This production sets the classic story in the 1950’s, and is a visually compelling new look at Don Giovanni, challenging the traditional approach to Mozart’s great work. It will allow our audiences to view this great masterpiece through a new lens. It will also move the company forward in the direction of innovation and creativity, and is viewed as important to establishing a new character for Toledo Opera – a company that respects the traditions of opera, but which is not afraid to challenge those traditions in an artistically satisfying way. The Toledo Opera is particularly pleased that this production will be conducted by Toledo Symphony Principal Conductor Stefan Sanderling. Maestro Sanderling and the TSO are playing an important role in advancing the health and artistic creativity of Toledo Opera. After 5K of color bombardment, we guarantee your outlook will be brighter, your boyfriend will be more affectionate, your girlfriend will be less needy, the hair on your head will grow back and the hair on your back will fall out, your black and white TV will turn into 720p HD (I know you were hoping for 1080, but we organize races, we're not miracle workers), and your gray outlook will turn green like a spring morning. You’ll start off with a shirt as pure and white as your grandpa's dentures and you'll soak up enough color while running to change your skin tone forever. You'll wind up looking like a pack of skittles – just make sure not to “taste the rainbow.” So cast your DYE and get red in the face from Color Me Rad, and not from the embarrassment of passing up on the run of a lifetime.

First off, this ain’t your Granny’s craft show. In fact, it’s hardly a craft show at all. Maker’s Mart is a one-day alternative/indie craft fair held in Toledo’s UpTown District that represents the best of Midwest handmade goods. It’s a celebration of unique, one-of-a-kind items that have a little more to offer than your traditional “craft.” Maker’s Mart seeks new and original concepts made from scratch, old school standards that use new and unconventional materials, found objects, re-purposed treasures. It’s about bold ideas, bright designs, and classic concepts with a contemporary touch that are maybe just a little askew and off-kilter. It’s about celebrating functional goods that flirt with the edge of fine art, and vice versa. Maker’s Mart is a celebration of Toledo’s DIY makers of the modern craft. The afternoon features food, drinks, music, and an unrivaled, intensely local shopping experience to snatch up totally unique, one-of-a-kind handmade holiday gifts. Enjoy.
