Lights Before Christmas Fun Facts
25th Lights Before Christmas
This year marks the 25th Lights Before Christmas and to celebrate, your Toledo Zoo has a whole lot of new features that are sure to make this year even more special!
* Crystal bears, emblazoned with thousands of pure white LED lights, celebrate the birth of Siku the polar bear!
* Thirteen spheres of light, placed throughout the Zoo, are covered with nearly 20,000 wide angle LED lights!
* All-new Pedal Power light displays let your family use your own energy to light holiday trees! From kids to adults, there's a bike that's just your size.
Of course, all of the things that have made The Lights Before Christmas a family favorite are returning as well. Don't miss ice-carving demonstrations on Thursday evenings, carolers on select evenings, the Swanton Area Railroad model trains in the Museum of Science, and all your favorite wintertime treats!
The Toledo Zoo is also your Santa Claus HQ! Stop in on the jolly old elf in the Zoo's Indoor Theatre from November 19 to December 23. (Please note that affordable Santa photo packages are available for sale, and personal photography of your child with Santa is not permitted.)
The Dancing Lights
This year's Dancing Lights show features state-of-art LED wide angle mini-lights, and in honor of the 25th Lights Before Christmas, the songs featured were voted on by visitors earlier this year! This year's Yule-Tunes favorites are:
* "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree"
* "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas"
* "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year"
* "Holly Jolly Christmas"
* "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"
* "Christmas Eve in Sarajevo"
Don't miss the Dancing Lights display, throughout the evening near Cheetah Valley—it's one more reason why The Toledo Zoo's Lights Before Christmas is a holiday tradition like no other!
Don't Miss the Kick-Off Friday, November 19!
Join us Friday, November 19 between 6:00 and 6:30 p.m. for the lighting of the 85-foot Norway spruce, located near the Zoo's Broadway entrance. Adorned with over 32,000 LED lights, the tree boasts more lights than the famous Christmas tree in New York's Rockefeller Center!
In addition, presenting sponsor KeyBank will once again offer a special gift to the first 1,000 visitors on November 19—special Holiday Stimulus Package envelopes containing cash prizes. The envelopes will contain either $2 in cash—or $25 in honor of this auspicious occasion!
