Sand-Tastic! is an outdoor community festival that will offer families an unforgettable summer experience.
The highlight of the weekend’s festivities will be the creation of 3, 8-10-ton sand sculptures by local, award-winning sculptor Chad Hartson of Ice Creations.
In addition to the sand sculptures, guests of all ages can enjoy live music, an oversized community sandbox, various children’s activities and more.
The sand carving and community sandbox which will be stocked with castle building tools will open on Friday and take place daily from 12:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. The sculpting team will provide demonstrations/instructions in the community sandbox on carving techniques daily from 1:00 – 1:45. Visitors will be invited to come out Friday – Sunday to see the sculptors in action and watch as the carvings come to life.
On Saturday, an amateur contest will be promoted and visitors will be encouraged to pre-register for a chance to showcase their creativity and win a prize package from Levis Commons. A pre-determined number of entrants will be given an identical amount of sand, tools, and time to build a sculpture that will then be on display and voted on by the public throughout the remainder of the weekend.
The event will culminate on Sunday as the sculptures are completed. A full days worth of events will take place with a beach theme. Such activities will include live music, face painting, crafts, inflatables, characters, water fun, sponsor booths and more. The sculptures and community sandbox will remain in place for a week following their completion.
