One of the world’s top scholars on Pompeii, he co-directs the Oplontis Project, a collaboration with the Archaeological Superintendency of Pompeii and the King’s Visualisation Lab (King’s College, London), which is conducting a systematic study of a huge luxury villa that dates 50 BC-CE 79. Clarke has published seven books and more than 75 essays, articles and reviews. The program is sponsored by the Museum Ambassadors with additional support from the Archaeological Institute of America–Toledo Society.
