Basin Street Grille hosts Dark, Groovy Tunes & A Voodoo Vibe

Something new and strange is a-foot at
The Basin Street Grille, and while I'm not sure exactly what it is, I
like it!
Filling the room of the cozy 'Nawlins-style cuisine restaurant this Friday, April 1 will be three of Toledo's most popular acts. Is this an April Fool's prank? I certainly hope not, because the impeccable line up of the Glass City's best rocking-ambient quartet, the ever psychedelic sounds of Sangsara, will combine nicely in the dark, boozy atmosphere of the Basin Street with the spooky deep Delta blues of Dooley Wilson, and the glam-tastic, rollicking croon of the always impressive Matt Truman (you might know him from his infamous Ego Trip).
My surprise comes from this being a new kind of show for the venue - one Toledo's premier eateries in my opinion (try the Pulled Pork Nachos!) - but these distinctly dark Toledo sounds seem a nice, natural match for the eerie voodoo vibe of the place. What's more, in a setting like this, rather than being buried in the holler and squalor of the local bar scene, the music stands a good chance of standing out and being appreciated in the way it always deserves and too often is not.
A good meal and great music? Sounds like a nice Friday evening to me.
Sangsara, Dooley Wilson, and Matt Truman play The Basin Street Grille (5201 Monroe St.). 8:30 - 11:30 p.m. www.facebook.com/basinstreetgrille
