The Matt Truman Ego Trip takes Howard's Club H, Saturday

by Ryan A. Bunch

There aren't a lot of bands doing big, thick, badass rock n' roll these days. Well, at least not many worth a damn, or who don't come off sounding cheesy, overly/annoyingly masculine, or who just plain suck.

Luckily, The Matt Truman Ego Trip is from right here in Northwest Ohio.

Taking the best elements of glam attitude, guitar metal, garage punk, classic barroom bravado, and just good old fashioned butt-shakin' rock boogie - and wrapping it all up into a sweatband of on-stage showmanship partyness - Matt Truman proves every time he takes the stage that he's earned his inflated ego. Thankfully, the whole things so much a ruse that you can put all your rock 'n' roll pretensions aside and dance and enjoy yourself.

It seems there was a brief hiatus in the past few months, but Truman and his cast of Toledo scene legends have come out of hiding. Come on out this Saturday and watch 'em burn (not literally, of course) BG's infamous Howard's Club H (210 Main St., Bowling Green, OH) all the way down.

The show goes on this Saturday, February 6. Doors at 9:30 p.m. $5 cover. Extra! Extra!, The Drags (Detroit), and The Floorwalkers (Columbus) also play.
