Old West End Festival: An Influx of Music

Listen Up Toledo  |  06/03/2010 7:00 am

The Old West End Festival has long been one of Toledo's favorite neighborhood festivals. Each year, thousands from around the area gather in the historic neighborhood, home to one of the largest collections of Victorian houses on American soil, for two days of architectural appreciation, historic home tours, an unrivaled parade, art fair, classic car show, live music, yard and garage sales, children's entertainment, and this year, drinking! (Well, there has always been ravanous drinking associated with the festivities, but this year, the much-longed for beer garden returns at the Agnes Reynolds Jackson Arboretum, corner of Robinwood and Delaware).

The OWE will come alive again this Saturday and Sunday, June 5 and 6, and is anticipated to be one of the largest-drawing festivals in years. A careful combination of precise planning and complete anarchy, OWE Fest is unique because it includes both the structured festival presented by the Old West End Association and folks from the neighborhood throwing parties on their porches and lawns, creating a genuine atmosphere of out-of-this-world partying.

What makes a good party? Music. No party can exist without it. Part of what makes the OWE Fest so fantastic is the abundance of live entertainment that graces the weekend, and this year, it's more than ever.

Two main stages and two great house parties collectively feature one fantastic weekend line up. Here's where you're ears'll find pleasure this weekend if you do the right thing and make your way to what could be the most fun weekend you'll ever have in your whole life. Ever. Just let go and come on in, the water's perfect.
