Help The Blues Head South: Toledo Goes to the International Blues Challenge

Every year, the Black Swamp Blues Society hosts a local competition to sends two local acts -- one electric, one acoustic -- to represent Toledo at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. After going head-to-head, the local blues community comes together for a big ol' bash to help raise funds for the trip. This years winners are electric outfit The Good, The Bad & The Blues (pictured) and acoustic duo Tom and Alex Clawson. Also enjoy a special Youth Showcase with Benny & The Bricks. Come help 'em celebrate and enjoy live performances this Sunday, January 8 at 151 on The Water (formerly Murphy's Place Jazz Club), from 2:30 - 9p.m. $5 admission. For info, www.bsbs.net
The International Blues Challenge is the largest blues music gathering in the world. It takes place each year to celebration the tradition and heritage of the blues, as well as to glimpse its influence and future.
