Recycle & Reuse: Art Materials Trading Day

For the artist has a corner in their studio cluttered with art materials collecting dust, this event is for you.   The Art Supply Depō is pleased to host the first ART MATERIALS TRADING DAY, Saturday, February 18th from 1-3pm.  Bring your unused or ‘gently’ used art supplies and trade them with others for 'new to you' materials.  There is no restriction on the type or number of supplies each artist may bring, The Depō staff only asks that the materials be in good or working condition. Parents with kids supplies and school art teachers are also welcome.

The swap will be an informal event- The Art Supply Depō is not going to structure or make 'rules' for the trading. Each artist can decide what they’d like to trade with others and independently assess the value of their goods. “We hope that Art Materials Trading Day will serve as a forum for artists to make connections and network with other artists, while also providing the opportunity for artists to recycle their unused goods for products they can put to use,” said Dana Syrek, co-owner of The Depō.

The next Art Materials Trading Day will be held Saturday, May 5th from 1-3pm.  The second trading event date is strategically coordinated to coincide with the last week of classes at BGSU and UT, to allow university art students to unload their unwanted materials at the end of the academic semester.

The Depō will also host an inventory reduction sale on Materials Trading Day, and offer 30-60% off items for every media throughout the store.

The Art Supply Depō is located at 29 South St. Clair, between Washington and Lafayette streets, one block away from 5/3 Field in downtown Toledo’s historic Warehouse District.  For additional information, call The Depō at 419.720.6462.
