American Dream will be held at Studio M Printmakers on April 20th, 2012, during the ACGT Gallery Loop (5:30 p.m. ? 11 p.m.), it consists of all new collection of artwork by local Toledo mixed media artist Jake Lee.
Jake Lee (Ziolkowski) is a mixed media artist from Toledo, Ohio and recent graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design. His artwork is influenced through street art and wheat pasting, utilizing aerosol paint, gel mediums, silk screens and photo transfers on wood blocks. He finds interest in vintage comics, popular culture and classic advertising campaigns combined together creates an interesting and successful composition.

American Dream is building up layers of imagery to create a narrative story about today’s society and the obsession with consumer products. Using different American Icons such as Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa and superhero Captain America, he conveys to you, a dark side of American’s obsession with today’s advertising.

Jake graduated from the Savannah College of Art & Design in 2011 with a BFA in Illustration. His work was one of 22 finalists selected by SCAD faculty for submission to Rolling Stone magazine. He has done freelance work for the Toledo Mud Hens Baseball Club, Toledo Walleye Hockey Club, Sea Lion Studios and Lesniewicz Associates.

His work is displayed at One SeaGate in the Fifth Third lobby where he was awarded one of the top honors, Pablo Picasso Award, at the Art-A-Fair sponsored by PRIZM. Other original artwork of Jake’s is currently displayed in Sam B’s Restaurant in Bowling Green, OH.

Jake’s work was chosen to be part of the upcoming “You Are Here Toledo” project sponsored by AIGA Toledo and The Arts Commission.

Studio M Printmakers, founded by Mania Dajnak, is a printmaking studio that is available to artists, printmakers, and print enthusiasts in the Toledo, Ohio area.
