Celebrate Toledo! Celebrate 419! April 19th is a special day for our beloved area code. Celebrate our local artists! The Artomatic 419! Favorites Exhibition opens on April 16 and will be on display in the Parkwood Gallery through May 25, 2012. Join us for a public reception for the artists Friday, April 27, 6-8 p.m.

This first ever exhibition celebrates the talent of Toledo’s local artists chosen by their community in the first ever people’s choice voting during Artomatic 419! last April of 2011.

Artomatic 419! is a biennial event ? held every other year ? where over 300 visual, performing, and literary artists from across our region’s Creative Community take over buildings in Downtown Toledo for Northwest Ohio’s largest nonjuried, multi-media arts showcase.

Over 10,000 visitors attended Artomatic 419! last April across 3 Saturdays. Many visitors cast their ballot in the first ever People’s Choice Voting, selecting their favorite visual artist space from the event. Top votes were received by the shared space of Josh Byers, Jared Christy and Phoebe Sloan, trailing close behind the spaces of Timothy Hacker; Neil Frankenhauser and Kristina Becker; Clifton Harvey; and last but not least the space of Jodie Peace.

We are thrilled to showcase even more of the artworks by each of these talented local artists in our Parkwood Gallery for the Artomatic 419! Favorites Exhibition.

The exhibition will be open for extended viewing on 419 Day ? April 19th 5-8pm ? along with other coordinated happenings of Uptown’s 419 Day (see www.uptowntoledo.org). The Parkwood Gallery will also be included as a venue on the Arts Commission’s April 20th Gallery Loop (see www.theartscommission.org) taking place 6:30 ? 11pm throughout downtown Toledo. The public is also invited to join us for the Artists Reception for the exhibition on Friday, April 27, 6-8pm.

The Parkwood Gallery is open Monday thru Friday 8:30 am ? 4:30pm and is located at 1838 Parkwood Avenue, Suite 120 off of Monroe Street in Downtown Toledo.

The Arts Commission is the longest standing arts commission in the state of Ohio that develops and promotes the arts in the community, serving Northwest Ohio since 1959. www.theartscommission.org. 419-254-ARTS
