On Saturday, May 5, families, community members, and train enthusiasts will gather at Toledo's Amtrak Station (Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza) for a city-wide observation of National Train Day. Train Day is a celebration of all things rail from the past, present and future. The event kicks off with an Opening Ceremony at 9:30 a.m., and continues throughout the day with a plethora of activities and fun for all ages.
This year promises to be a special event, with a display of Amtrak's 40th Anniversary Train. For your enjoyment, the station will also feature the Norfolk Southern Engine, freight rail displays, and model trains.Train Day offers a little something for everyone. Music, food, and rides are all part of the celebration. Visitors can also check out some rail art and history. Don't miss the entertaining kids activities planned for the day, including a kid's safety workshop with Engineer Steve.
