The Arts Commission Announces Art Walk Series
Daily Dose | 05/07/2012
WHAT:
The Arts Commission is pleased to announce that its popular Art Walk series will celebrate the start of its 5th season on Thursday, May 10, from 6-9 p.m. This program has grown exponentially over the past five years, beginning with just a small handful of venues and an attendance of about 50 guests at the inaugural event in 2007, and growing to regularly feature more than 100 artists, nearly 30 venues, and hosting several hundred guests each month throughout the summer series.
Art Walks are a great way for the community to experience Toledo’s burgeoning arts scene, to explore the exciting development happening in Downtown Toledo, and to purchase original fine art, and/or locally produced and handmade art, crafts, goods, and wares.
WHEN:
Throughout the summer of 2012, Art Walks will take place on the 2nd Thursday of each month, May ? September, with the exception of the June event, which will take place in conjunction with the national Glass Art Society Conference’s GAS Gallery Hop on Friday, June 15 (see more information at www.glassart.org/2012_Toledo_OH.html).
2012 Art Walk dates are: May 10, June 15 (Friday w/ GAS Gallery Hop), July 12, August 9, September 13. Hours are 6-9 p.m. for regular Art Walks, and 6:30-10:30 p.m. for the GAS Gallery Hop event.
WHERE & HOW:
Maps of participating venues, including artist descriptions, will be available at each event, and will be available for download in advance of each event at www.theartscommission.org. Art Walk guests are encouraged to explore the UpTown Arts & Entertainment District (featuring The Arts Commission’s new Artist Designed Bike Racks!), the Warehouse District (featuring The Arts Commission’s Young Artists at Work Art Benches!), and the Arts Zone on foot, via bicycle, or using the new bicycle taxi service offered by Glass City Pedicabs.
