Directed by Lourdes’ alumna, and benefitting the Lourdes University Drama Society
The Lourdes University Drama Society will present a musical showcase entitled “Just Desserts,” February 14 through 16. Under the direction of Lourdes alumna Kelly Welever, the production will feature selections from several hit Broadway musicals including Songs for a New World and Thoroughly Modern Millie, while the audience enjoys a variety of dessert options. All proceeds will benefit the Drama Society.
“This production was completely Kelly’s idea,” stated Keith Ramsdell, advisor for the Drama Society. “She came to me several months ago wanting to direct a production that would benefit the group, and this is the result. The combination of great music and desserts around a Valentine’s Day theme is brilliant. I’m extremely proud of her!”
Welever, who is now working on a degree in theatre at Siena Heights University, approached several area businesses seeking support for the production. Donors included Budget Blinds, Costume Holiday House, Jimmy John’s, Michael’s Café, and Great Lakes Sound and Lighting. “So many businesses and volunteers have helped to make this production a reality. It’s truly been an amazing experience,” said Welever.
Performances will be in the Ebeid Student Center on the Lourdes University campus starting at 8 p.m. each evening. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students and seniors, which includes desserts and beverages. Tickets can be reserved by calling 419-270-0227 or by emailing [email protected] They can also be purchased at the door prior to each performance.
