The Tree City Film Festival’s 50-hour Challenge is an exciting and intense weekend that invites teams of filmmakers to write, shoot, edit, and publish their own short films in just 50 hours. The filming takes place during one weekend in March. At the beginning of the event, each team receives a series of elements that must be incorporated into their film – things like a particular genre, prop, line of dialogue, character name and shooting location. After the allotted 50 hours are over and the films are accepted, they are juried by a guest panel of judges that are currently working in the film industry today.

The filming will take place the weekend of February 10-12 following a kick-off event at Sodbuster Bar & Grill, 5758 Main Street, Sylvania. The screening and awards ceremony will take place on March 25 at Olander Park’s Nederhouser Community Hall. Applications are available online at or The Application deadline is February 2.
