It may be back to school time, but it is also back to the Zoo time!

Overnights and Snooze at the Zoo
Sept. 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 22, 28, 29                         
Spending the night at the Zoo is a wildly good time for families, groups and schools. During the overnight adventure, guests make enrichment for our animals, tour the Zoo, meet animals up close and enjoy delicious meals. Each Snooze lasts from 6:30 p.m. - 10 a.m. the next day. Grandparents’ Day & Day of Honor
Sunday, Sept. 9                                        
Celebrate the grandest of them all with a family trip to the Toledo Zoo! Grandparents receive free admission when accompanied by at least one grandchild.
Join us in this annual salute to all those who keep us safe. All military, police, firefighters and EMTs receive free admission with badge or professional ID. An array of safety vehicles will be on display in the Main Plaza for visitors to enjoy. Day of Honor is supported by Marathon Petroleum Company. Garden Tour: Collecting & Saving Seeds
Tuesday, Sept. 11
                                       
Learn how to collect and save seeds from your favorite annuals, perennials and vegetables. In addition to basic seed science, learn which varieties are best for collection, when and how to collect them and how to store seeds to keep them viable for planting next season. Senior Safari
Tuesday, Sept. 18                                        
Join the Toledo Zoo and Area Office on Aging of Northwestern Ohio for a fun day focused on seniors, including lunch, health screenings, exercise, safety tips and Zoo exploration! Homeschool Open House
Wednesday, Sept. 19                                                 
Homeschool families! Explore the Zoo and enjoy special programs, tours and activities just for homeschoolers. Guests will get a chance to preview lessons from our Around the World series for 2018-2019 while meeting live animals up close. The cost to participate is $10 per family. Activities run from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and are held in an open house format. (Zoo admission and parking rates apply.)

Enrichment Day: Prowl & Play
Saturday, Sept. 22                                              

Learn how we encourage natural behaviors among our animals. For example,a toilet paper tube becomes a game of hide and seek while a grapevine wreath becomes a snack-time puzzle! Garden Tour: Fall in the Garden

Come see how the horticulture staff puts the grounds to bed. You will learn fall pruning and mulching techniques, how to divide and store plants, select and plant spring-flowering bulbs, protect newly-planted landscapes and much more. Luminous Nights Opening Night
Friday, Sept. 28                                                   
More than 500 hand-crafted Chinese lanterns illuminate the Zoo during this after-dark fall festival! The spotlight will shine on Asian culture with the addition of professional live acrobatic shows on the weekends, community cultural activities during the week and themed food and beverage options! Senior Discovery Days
Weekdays in Sept. & Oct.
