The Fair Housing Center will host an annual fundraiser celebration There’s No Place Like Home on Thursday, August 9 from 5 – 8 p.m. at The Pinnacle, located at 1772 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee, OH, 43537. The happy hour event is part of The Pinnacle’s Twylite Thursday series, with a portion of proceeds benefitting The Fair Housing Center. All are welcome to attend this fun event and show their support for equal housing rights.

The lively event will feature food, networking, and music provided by DJ Moni Featchurs. Guests are encouraged to wear red shoes in honor of the evening’s theme, and everyone will have the chance to join in the festivities with auction items and raffle drawings, including a chance to win a trip to the Caribbean!

This year’s event will feature a live sculpture creation by Dane Turpening, Artist and Owner of Toledo Twisted Iron. This past spring, The Fair Housing Center collected nearly 20,000 old keys from across the community that will be fused together to create a new outdoor sculpture. The unique “Keys to Opportunity” sculpture will represent the role fair housing plays in opening the door to the vital resources that enable us to thrive. Guests attending There’s No Place Like Home will have special opportunity to see the artwork in progress as Mr. Turpening constructs a portion of the sculpture during the event.

The evening’s short program will include a testimonial from Zenola Sherman, a recent client helped by The Fair Housing Center. Zenola experienced mobility issues following a disability diagnosis, making it difficult to navigate the bathroom in her apartment. After a long process during which The Fair Housing Center stood by her side, she was able to obtain a walk-in bathtub that makes her home more accessible and allows her to live a fuller, more independent lifestyle.
