Still Water Yoga
Still Waters Yoga offers hatha yoga classes inspired by the Anusara style of yoga. Anusara Yoga, developed by John Friend, is a uniquely integrated style of yoga that is heart-oriented and yet grounded in a deep knowledge of outer and inner body alignment. It is an all-inclusive yoga in which each student’s various abilities and limitations are deeply respected and honored.
Our spacious studio is located in the Monclova Community Center. The benefits of our studio include natural light from windows, full length mirrors to assist students in alignment, soft lighting, and a selection of props students may use to enhance their practice.
It is our goal to provide a warm and open environment for all students to experience the many aspects of yoga.
Adults
Yoga Light:
Very gentle heart-centered class for those who think they can't do yoga. Focus on very gentle stretching and strengthening. Explore the wonders of relaxation and breathing for stress management. One hour class. Sessions run monthly.
Beginners:
A gentle introduction to yoga including principals of alignment inspired by Anusara Yoga. Basic yoga postures will be introduced with an emphasis on breath work, stretching, strengthening, and relaxation. Six-week session with 1½ hr. classes. $66.
Active Intro Beginners:
Accelerated introduction to yoga for the student that is currently physically active. Includes principals of alignment inspired by Anusara Yoga. Four-week session with 1½ hr. classes. $44.
Ongoing Yoga:
For continuing students who have completed the Beginner or Active Intro session. The emphasis will be to refine your practice and build endurance while strengthening your inner understanding. Sessions run monthly. Classes are 1½ hours. Cost for month is listed on the calendar on the first class day of that month.
Ongoing Yoga-Level 2:
For the continuing student who would like to take their practice to a deeper level. More challenging postures will be introduced and playfully explored to the fullest. Inversions will be introduced. Sessions run monthly. Classes are 1½ hr. Cost for the month listed on calendar on the first class day of that month.
Yoga for Children
Ages 4-7 Co-ed:
A playful introduction to basic yoga postures that includes breath work and a guided relaxation. Sessions run monthly. Classes are ½ hr.
Ages 8-12:
An introduction to basic yoga postures with an emphasis on strengthening and stretching. In addition there will be a focus on breath work and relaxation to invite awareness of the peace within. Sessions run monthly. Classes are 45 minutes.
Yoga for the Special Needs Child:
This playful introduction to yoga will be custom designed for the participants with and emphasis on basic yoga postures, breath work and relaxation. Parents are encouraged to accompany their child.
