S.P. Jermain is often cited as the "father of golf" in Toledo, and while he's credited with the idea for the Ryder Cup, one of the biggest golf events in the world, he was also one of many founders of the Inverness Club in Toledo, Ohio. After its completion in 1919, Inverness hosted the U.S. Open in 1920 to public acclaim. The course continues to be recognized as a national treasure, and members of Inverness can enjoy the course and club amenities year-round.
