Youth Services

After School Programs; provided free of charge to eligible families recommended by Sylvania elementary school counselors and identified as low income or ‘at risk”. The after school program contains elements like additional reading time, assistance with homework and group playtime including outdoor games, game room, board games and structured educational games. Youth work on socialization skills and appropriate behaviors. Many high school students form area private and public schools fulfill their community service hours working as mentors to these youth.

Summer Camp; as a licensed day camp provider through the State of Ohio, SAFS offers 7 weeks of summer fun in sessions of two or three week segments for our low income or at risk youth who otherwise might not get an opportunity to participate in such a program. Youth receive a summer camp t-shirt and each fun filled session is themed with topics like sports, animals, theater or culture. Days consist of reading, educational games, crafts, songs, field trips, swimming and guest speakers. Hot lunches are provided on site and bag lunches for field trips away from the center.

The Sylvania Youth Diversion Program; SYDP is a voluntary program for first time, non-violent, youth offenders 11-17 years of age (18 if still in high school) residing or offending in Sylvania City or township.
Successful completion of this family program results in no juvenile record of conviction for the youth.
