Locally written and scored children's musical "Captain of the Crossing Guards" to play at The Valentine Theatre's Studio A Stage in August!

"Captain of the Crossing Guards" tells the story of a 6th grader named Monica who needs to choose her crossing guard captain successor from six potential candidates. This decision is one of the biggest she's ever had to make in her young life. Thanks to wise advice from Mr. Roosevelt the bus driver, Mrs. Bentley the school principal, and her future self, Monica is able to make a decision that satisfies everyone.

The show has been a work in progress since 2017. The cast, composer, vocal director, and director "workshopped" the show before starting rehearsals. The author Gretchen Zyndorf is also a former elementary school teacher in Rossford, so her experiences inspired the show. CG is a great show for the entire family, especially children aged 4-11, with its snappy dialogue, physical humor, and charming score.

With direction by Amy Heuring, and composed by David Nelson Jex, with musical direction and accompaniment by Bob Duris, "Captain of the Crossing Guards" will play Studio A (100 seat capacity theatre) Friday, August 17, 2018 through Sunday, August 19 for four performances. Curtain times are Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2pm.

Tickets, at $10 for adults, and $8 for children may be purchased at The Valentine Theatre box office Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., by calling 419-242-2787 or online.
