Event Details:

Instructor: Donna Ebert
Ages: Adults and teens 16+
Skill Level: Beginner to advanced
Tuesday, February 26 from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Feeling floral? This class is for you! Donna Ebert specializes in decorative painting and can coach anyone through the process of creating a beautiful floral painting.

Learn techniques that will enhance your painting abilities such as how to quickly block in your background, loosen up and enjoy painting more, and how to use many types of paint brushes to get exactly the mark you are looking for. Donna will demonstrate easy techniques such as how to create foliage using special brushes, sea sponges, and paper towels. How to effortlessly create the illusion of glass with acrylic paint will also be demonstrated. Glazing techniques, highlighting techniques, "negative painting," and how to use the color wheel to create pleasing color harmonies will also be discussed. We will be using acrylic paints on two 8x8" canvases. Each students will go home with TWO finished 8x8" floral paintings. Donna has found that offering students the opportunity to create two small paintings (instead of one large 16x20" painting as we have previously offered) leads to increased creativity, spontaneity, and enables students to explore two different color schemes. Some students may finish a bit faster 9pm depending on how many flowers and how much detail is added.

Donna promises to make it "easy-peasy." All materials and step-by-step instructions will be provided. Wear comfortable old clothing, something you won’t mind if a little paint happens to jump on.

Testimonial from Jules Webster, Proprietor of Art Supply Depo: I took this class in our Toledo location and was highly impressed. I have been painting for over 10 years in both a tight realistic style on canvas and in a more "decorative manner" on ceramic pottery. Even though I consider myself an "experienced painter," Donna helped me to loosen up and get re-inspired to paint every day, which I haven't been able to do in years. I was previously afraid to make a mistake and it was always hard to get started when staring at a blank canvas. Donna's class reminded me to seek out the pure joy of putting paint on a surface and to never be afraid, as art is always supposed to be fun, and not "scary." I recommend this class to anyone and everyone who is looking to start painting or to re-discover the joy in creating on canvas. Artists of any skill level will also enjoy Donna's simplified approach to using color theory to make a more powerful, compelling, and beautiful image.
