Vessels at Flatlanders

Vessels, an exhibition of new still life paintings from northwest Ohio artist Steve Mockensturm, opens Saturday, January 17th at Flatlanders Art Galleries in Blissfiled, Michigan.

There is an opening reception Sunday afternoon, January 18th from 1-3 pm.

Vessels is a collection of large and small traditional still life oil paintings on wooden panels. They feature heavy use of chiaroscuro in a rich display of intense dark and punchy color. Apples, oranges, jugs, bowls, pitchers and cups are among the titular subject material.

Says the artist: "These objects possess both a complete emptiness and the capacity to carry and share."

Flatlanders is at 11993 East US 223 in Blissfield, Michigan.
