Event Details:
Born in Chicago in the early 50’s, singing came easy for Sheila. Never formally trained, she has an ear for everything that she would hear. She was encouraged by her mother to perform at family gatherings and for her friends.
Early exposure to great vocalists like Dinah Washington, Nancy Wilson, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Carmen McRae, Ella Fitzgerald, Gloria Lynn, Etta James as well as melodic standards from the greats Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis just to name a few were the foundations by which she developed a deep sense of true jazz vocals and the bee bop blues gospel effect of jazz.
