Event Details:

Slow down, look closely, and capture the beauty of the natural world through nature journaling on Friday, May 15 during the Biggest Week in American Birding. In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn simple and engaging techniques for observing and recording birds in their environment. Through guided prompts, you’ll explore methods for sketching birds in the field, estimating bird and flock sizes, and documenting observations that can inspire further research after birdwatching.

Nature journaling combines words, sketches, and numbers to help deepen your connection with the outdoors. No prior drawing or journaling experience is required—these approachable methods are perfect for beginners and anyone curious about observing nature more closely.

Cost: $10 for members, $30 for non-members (Museum Ship admission included)

Suitable for all experience levels. Materials will be provided, including a journal, watercolors, and printed guidelines.
