Gorillas in the Mist
A deeply-moving memoir and a landmark work in wildlife literature, Gorillas in the Mist is a classic must-read for animal lovers of all ages. An engaging blend of scientific discovery and personal adventure storytelling, Dian Fossey shares her deeply personal account of life among the mountain gorillas of Rwanda and the fight to protect them. Participants will explore the intelligence, emotional depth, and social structure of large primates, as well as the ethical challenges of conservation and human–wildlife conflict. The program will conclude with a visit to the Kingdom of the Apes to meet some of the zoo’s large-primate keepers to learn more about primate husbandry, enrichment, and modern conservation efforts.
