Living History Re-enactment

7:30 pm

General Benjamin O. Davis, Jr.

The first African-American general in the United States Air Force and commander of the World War II Tuskegee Airmen.

Step back in time and listen to Cesar Chavez, Robert F. Kennedy, Benjamin O. Davis, Betty Friedan, and Erma Bombeck at Ohio Chautauqua 2018, presented on the banks of the Maumee River in Rossford Ohio. Ohio Chautauqua 2018: Modern Legends is a five-day community event the whole family will enjoy. Enjoy living history performances, music, and education at this free one-of-a-kind cultural event.

Each evening, under the big tent, a living history expert will portray one of the most memorable and interesting "Modern Legends" who left a larger-than-life imprint on the American psyche. Following their in-character presentation with personal stories and historic details, the audience is encouraged to ask the living history guests questions about their lives in the time frame they portray.

In addition to evening music and the Chautauqua performance, we will have side trips, hands-on family activities, and food for all to enjoy!

Ohio Chautauqua is based on the populist tradition "Circuit Chautauquas" of traveling speakers, teachers, musicians, and performers who brought entertainment and culture to small towns and rural areas across the United States.

Rossford is honored to be chosen again to be one of the Ohio cities to host Ohio Chautauqua. Ohio Chautauqua 2018: Modern Legends is presented by Ohio Humanities with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
