The Art Loop partners with the Glass City Film Festival to present an evening of local and regional filmmakers and a celebration of cinema craft throughout downtown Toledo! Seven venues throughout the Loop feature film screenings, live music, and more, with a culminating party and filmmaker networking night at Fleetwood's Tap Room.

The Glass City Film Festival kicks off during the Loop and continues Friday through Sunday, May 19-21 at the Ohio Theatre and Events Center.

The 2017 Art Loop Hub takes place at the Toledo-Lucas County Main Public Library (325 N. Michigan St). Parking is available in the Library garage (enter off Adams St) until 9:00 pm. Stop by and visit the library for dynamic programming, chat with Art Loop staff and volunteers at the Art Loop Info Table to plan your trip, and climb aboard a Loop bus to explore Toledo's arts scene downtown. All buses and all routes stop at the Library, making it a low-cost, convenient one-stop shop for a great night out!


Main Library
The Toledo School for the Arts Chamber Ensemble will be playing orchestral music from your favorite blockbuster films, in the Wintergarden from 5:30-7:30 pm and The Ohio Theater and Friendly Center’s Windows to the World will present in honor of this weekend's Glass City Film Festival the video, "Spanish ABC Rap". In the Huntington Meeting Room from 5:30-6:30 pm.

Free Art Loop activities will be throughout Main Library. In the Children’s Library Creativity Lab: Percussion! Plus, make your own instrument to take home. In the Local History and Genealogy Department: photoplays, novels adapted from movies that feature stills from films. On display is Wings, the 1927 American silent film that became the first Academy Award winner in 1929.

Unfiltered Improv Troupe will perform from 6:30-8:00 pm in the McMaster Family Center. Coffee sponsored by the Glass City Roasters.

Toledo School for the Arts Film Festival at Handmade Toledo (7-9pm)
18 short student films will be screened during TSA's first annual Film Festival. TSA filmmakers are competing for Best Storytelling, Best Cinematography, and Best Non-Narrative videos. Professional local artists served as the judges and the winners will be announced at the end of the event. This is the first festival of TSA's new Film Club - admission is free, but we will happily accept donations to develop Film Club events for the upcoming school year.

Gathered Glass Studio
Handmade glass awards that will be presented at GCFF will be on display in the gallery. Plus, glass demo by Joel O'dorisio! Joel is one of the best glass artists in NW Ohio, and a top tier educator. Musical guest: Back by popular demand, Old State Line.

Art Loop After Hours - Hang out with the filmmakers from this year’s Glass City Film Festival at the official Art Loop afterparty. In keeping with GCFF’s spacey theme, come kick it on the big screen and reminisce with a special screening of “Space Jam!”


Prizm Breaking Ground at One Seagate
Enjoy the 11th Annual PRIZM Art-A-Fair Exhibition at the 5/3 Building at One Seagate (550 N. Summit St.) thru May 25th. “BREAKING GROUND” A Retrospective of Progress,” celebrates the history of Art in NW Ohio by showcasing over 350 pieces by nearly 100 artists spanning the last 150 years. Celebrate Past, Current and Future Talent by viewing historic, current professionals and emerging artists. On the May 18th ART LOOP sponsored by The Arts Commission, in addition to the extensive historic art collection, enjoy refreshments and a “Open Mic” for NW Ohio authors by attending “Poetry in the Glass City” starting at 6:30 p.m. To be a featured reader please arrive early to be added to the line-up. This month features local artist and creative spirit Roger Zielinski. His mixed media pieces of wild stallions and other surprises draw from his years of experience with nature, painting​, and like information life like it's a movie!

The TSA Thespian Improv Group will be providing a Wax Museum of some of their favorite actors and musicians - from Adams Street up 14th to the Porter Gallery.
