Thousands of Toledo Area Residents are Raising Critically Needed Awareness and Funds

Thousands of Toledo Area residents will join the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease at the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s. In 2016, the Toledo Area Walk raised nearly $200,000 contributing to more than $600 million raised nationwide for care, support and research efforts for those impacted by Alzheimer's.

Dr. Isaac Schiefer, Alzheimer’s Research and Assistant Professor at The University of Toledo is serving as the 2017 Chairman. Along with his committee of over 40 volunteers, an eventful morning has been planned. 2017 marks the first ever 5K Walk/Run for the local Alzheimer’s Association Chapter. The participants can choose to run or walk a 5K or 1 M route around UT’s beautiful campus and on to University/Parks Trail. Kids activities, characters, chair massages, food, fun and music by Johnny Rodrigues will be available.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. Participants will learn more about Alzheimer's disease, advocacy opportunities, clinical studies enrollment and support programs and services.

Walk participants honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony.
