Event Details:

Join United Way of Greater Toledo as we partner with the Lucas County Getting to One Coalition, to address infant mortality in our community and help local families across Lucas, Wood and Ottawa counties meet their basic infant and toddlers needs.

Did you know?

-5.8 million babies in the U.S. aged three or younger live in poor or low-income families.
-1 out of 3 families struggle to buy diapers.
-Diapers cost up to $100 per month, per baby.
-Food stamps cannot be used for diapers. Diapers are classified with cigarettes, alcohol and pet food as disallowed purchases.

The astonishing consequences of not having access to diapers:

-Babies who remain too long in a soiled diaper are exposed to potential health risks.
-Most child care centers, even free and subsidized facilities, require parents to provide a day's supply of disposable diapers.
-Cloth diapers are not accepted at the vast majority of child care centers.

Through our event registration, we are setting a goal to raise $15,000 to stock the local diaper bank for six months. We will also be packing "Bags for Babies" on October 5 with essential supplies for new and expecting mothers. These bags will include onesies, wipes, resource flyers, pacifiers, halo sleep sacks and more.
