A Community Conversation about Carmen by Georges Bizet

When Bizet’s Carmen premiered in Paris in 1875, it shocked audiences with its plot, its music-and especially its heroine. Carmen shines a light on the challenges women faced in Bizet’s era and provokes modern audiences to reflect on what has changed and what remains the same for women.

Toledo Opera invites you to join the conversation. This event will feature a panel discussion, a musical selection from the opera, Carmen, and a glass of wine.

Moderator: Rhonda Sewell, Toledo Lucas County Public Library
