Event Details:

Lourdes Lifelong Learning Presents a two day series on consecutive Tuesday's, beginning November 7th: "The Battle and Memorial Landscape of Gettysburg". The Civil War's Battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863) was the largest battle ever fought in the western hemisphere. This class will discuss the importance of the battle — often referred to as the turning point of the Civil War — as well as Gettysburg's great memorial landscape and monuments developed by veterans from the 1860s through the early 20th century.

Since 1997, Dr. Putney has done significant research and photography focused on Gettysburg's memorial landscape and its more than 1,300 monuments and markers; he also taught the battle's history to future Army officers for The University of Toledo's ROTC chapter.

 Instructor: Dr. Dick Putney

Tuesdays, November 7 and 14 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Cost: $29 members; $41 non-members
