Event Details:

BGSU Hillel and the BGSU Office of Multicultural Affairs are honored to welcome Dr. Irene Butter to BGSU. Dr. Butter was born in Berlin and grew up as a Jewish child in Nazi-occupied Europe. She survived two concentration camps and came to the US in 1945. Since the late 1980’s, Dr. Butter has been teaching students about the Holocaust and the lessons she learned during those traumatic years. She reminds us all of our ability to make meaningful change through seemingly small gestures, and that “refusing to be an enemy” and “never being a bystander” makes all the difference in the world.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Butter to BGSU and hear her personal story firsthand. Dr. Butter plans to sell and sign her newly published memoir, "Shores Beyond Shores: From Holocaust to Hope, My True Story" at the event. This event is free of charge and open to all. Additional information on Dr. Butter can be found here.
