Ladies and Gentlemen:

We cordially invite you to Toledo's version of #WritersResist: an international movement of writers and activists committed to compassion, equality, free speech, and social justice. Writers across the country and world are planning reading events on Sunday, January 15, 2017. To learn more about this movement, please visit. www.writersresist.org.

Women's reproductive healthcare rights have been continuously challenged. For years, Capital Care Network of Toledo has been fighting to remain Toledo's only clinic for women in need of abortion; and with the recent push for Ohio's "Heartbeat Bill" to ban abortion at 6 weeks, and the legislation that Governor Kasich passed to ban abortion at 20 weeks in December, Toledo organizers are focusing on women's reproductive health with a stage performance followed by a group discussion and meeting led by Toledo Area Progressives.

2 p.m. - Writers Resist: True Tales of Reproductive Health--Local women and men will share their first-hand experiences with access to healthcare, abortion, and birth control through prose, poetry, spoken-word and monologue form. For consideration: submit your story in written or video format to [email protected]om by Dec. 31, 2016.

3 p.m.- The audience and Toledo Area Progressives members are welcome to participate in an open dialog about reproductive healthcare in Toledo and how we can work together to support women, and agencies such as Aggie's Fund, Capital Care, Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and others. Organizations and non-profits will be present to share their needs with the community. We will also be inviting members of the local and regional government to participate in the conversation.

Both events will be held in the Black Box Theatre at the Collingwood Arts Center. A suggested $10 donation is welcome (but not required) to help organizers pay for the space and donate back to pro-choice organizations who need our support.
