The city of Toledo will hold a public meeting on the Downtown Toledo Transportation Plan, 5:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the SeaGate Convention Centre, Room 104. It is the second of three public meetings.

The Kapszukiewicz administration is seeking public input on the plan, which will take a comprehensive look at the transportation elements of downtown and assess how to enhance economic development and residential space. The plan will examine motor vehicle traffic, pedestrian traffic, public transit, and biking.

Mannik & Smith Group Inc., a local engineering firm, was awarded a $249,488 contract to evaluate the existing traffic flow and future proposed traffic patterns while accounting for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users to enhance the development potential downtown. The study is expected to take about a year to complete.

“The Downtown Transportation Plan will help us develop an all-inclusive vision for a more complete and integrated transportation system that meets the needs for all travelers,” Stephanie Bartlett, Professional Engineer for the city’s Division of Transportation, said. “We plan to develop a plan to account for changes happening downtown while maintaining an efficient street network and encouraging transit use, walking, and cycling.”

The city of Toledo supports the provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act. If you would like to request a reasonable accommodation, please contact Joan Easler, ADA coordinator, at 419-245-1059 at least 72 hours before the start time.
