Lucas County Children Services seeking prospective foster parents.

(TOLEDO, Ohio–June 1, 2019)— Lucas County Children Services is seeking families and single adults to become foster parents. The agency is holding free information forums at six area branches of the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library to share information about the need, and about the process of becoming a licensed caregiver.

  • July 10 – Point Place Branch Library, 2727 117th, Toledo
  • July 17 – Reynolds Corners Branch Library, 4833 Dorr St.
  • July 24 – Maumee Branch Library, 501 River Rd., Maumee
  • July 30 – Locke Branch Library, 703 Miami St., Toledo
  • August 5 – South Branch Library, 1736 Broadway, Toledo
  • August 8 – Heatherdowns Branch Library, 3265 Glanzman Rd., Toledo

All sessions will run from 6:30 until 8 p.m.

Qualifying to be a foster or adoptive parent is easier than you think. You...

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to adopt; 21 to become a foster parent.
  • Participate in the free training. All caretaking adults in the household must attend.
  • Must demonstrate a source of income sufficient to care for yourself.
  • Can own or rent a home or apartment with at least two bedrooms. Your home must pass a safety inspection.
  • All adults in the home must provide references and pass a background check.
  • Can be married, single or in a relationship.
  • Can work outside the home.
  • Receive financial support, based on your foster child(ren)’s needs.

 About Lucas County Children Services

The mission of Lucas County Children Services is to lead the community in the protection of children at risk of abuse and neglect.  This is accomplished by working with families, service providers and community members to assess risk and coordinate community-based services resulting in safe, stable and permanent families for children.
