Best-selling author, prize-winning journalist, acclaimed biographer and cultural historian Wil Haygood returns to Toledo to share the emotional, inspiring story from his latest book, Tigerland: 1968-1969: A City Divided, a Nation Torn Apart, and a Magical Season of Healing that follows two teens from a poor, black, segregated high school in Columbus. In the midst of the racial turbulence of 1968/1969, the team wins both the Ohio State baseball and basketball championships in the same year.

Best known as the author of the New York Times best-sellers The Butler and Showdown, Wil Haygood's work has chronicled America’s civil rights journey through acclaimed biographies of Thurgood Marshall, Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., Sammy Davis, Jr., Sugar Ray Robinson and Eugene Allen, the real-life inspiration for Lee Daniels’ award-winning film, The Butler.

Books will be for sale at the event by Friends of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library and Mr. Haygood will be available for a book-signing after the program.
