Mix it Up Saturday!

By now you've certainly heard - the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo throws the best party of the year.

The Mix spring fundraiser is among the most heralded and happening events of the year in Toledo, and it's a good thing, because it too is one of the most vital fundraisers held by the Arts Commission to bring consistent and quality arts programming to NW Ohio. Among the events and services offered by ACGT are Artomatic 419, Meet & Greet, Art Walks, Young Artists at Work, and Art in TARTA.

ACGT will hold The Mix Twenty 10 at the Secor Hotel this year, with a funky new theme and plenty of goodies.

The Back-to-the-Future-ish theme of the event takes a retro look over the horizon. With decor and dress, the idea is to remember, remind, and reminisce (or to pretend like you do) the view of the distant future of the new millennium from a 1970's perspective. Think E.L.O., Blue Oyster Cult, Ziggy Stardust, Warhol in space (or is that redundant?).

As always, The Mix features some of the most eccentric and eclectic art, performance, entertainment, and music in town and around. This years artist roster in the silent auction reads like a who's who of the Toledo arts scene, including such notable locals as Jack Schmidt, Jules Webster, Ann Tubbs, Phil Hazard, Rex Fogt, Luke Ellison, Richard Reed, Arturo Rodriguez, Doug Kampfer, Jerry Gray, Jan Thomas, Penny Gentieu, Shawn Messenger, Nate Masternack, Buzz Meyers, and Ivan Kende ... along with a whole lot more.

Accenting the totally fabu decor of the place - which includes a space ship landing in the former hotel lobby, on the dance floor! - will be entertainment from the likes of Kentucky Chrome, Blue Midnight HighwayKevin Korecki & The Neon Jazz Trio, The Hajera Cyborgs, and Mojoflo. Naturally, PhotoBoothLive will be on hand, and catering will be provided by Myles Baker Street, along with CABOT Cheese, Flying Rhino Coffee, Tout Sweet, and late night pizza from Homeslice and JoJo's.

But that's not all. With The Mix, that's never all. Plenty of tricks, treats, and surprises await, including sweet raffle prizes, kids on trampolines, and a variety of roaming entertainers.

The Mix stirs up the arts scene this Saturday, March 20 from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Secor Hotel (425 Jefferson at the corner of Superior).
Tickets are $75 (hey, it's a fundraiser) and are available for purchase over the phone by calling  (419) 254-2787. Or, click here and buy them via Toledo.com.

See you in The Mix!
