The Misfits wreak havoc for Halloween at The Omni

Just in time for Halloween, everyone's favorite hardcore horror punks, The Misfits, come back to life in Toledo. Emerging from the netherworld (New Jersey) in 1977, led by Glenn Danzig and bassist Jerry Only, the band released just two full-length albums - Walk Among Us, and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood - before disbanding in 1983. Nonetheless, the group became among the most influential and notable of the '80s hardcore movement, creating a brief but lasting legacy of sonicaly fast, heavy-yet-catchy tunes.
Danzig spit from the group in the '80s, but Jerry Only has kept the rocking dead alive since with an ever-changing line-up that has included members from the likes of Black Flag and The Ramones. In fact, even Toledo's own hardcore legends, The Necros, have a piece of Misfits history among them. Sitting-in in Detroit, drummer Todd Swalla was the last drummer to play with the Misfits with Danzig on lead vocals the night they broke up.
From classics like "Horror Business," "All Hell Breaks Loose," "Die, Die, My Darling," and "Night of the Living Dead" to later standards such as "American Psycho," "Dig Up Her Bones," and "Scream!" - The Misfits have a long, storied past that is rife with killer tunes. Perfect fodder with a perfect soundtrack for the rock n' roll history books.
The Misfits play The Omni (2567 Bancroft) on Saturday, October 29. Juice Head, The Fight Within and Hour 24 open. 419-536-OMNI. www.omnimidwest.com
