Out Of This World Glass Opportunity For Kids

Keeping Up With Kids  |  05/14/2012

As the 50th anniversary of the American Studio Glass Movement approaches, kids and parents are honoring the Glass City every which way they can. Students can play a big role in the celebration when they sign up for the free Children's Glass Workshops during and before the Glass Art Society's 42nd Annual Conference, which runs June 13-16 right here in Toledo.

The free workshops will be held at the Toledo School for the Arts, and led by artists with Bullseye Glass Co., a leading manufacturer of colored glass, and Brazee Street Studios School of Glass based out of Cincinnati. Participants have the opportunity to create a one-of-a-kind, kid-formed glass installation with a special theme: Outer Space. Pieces will include stars, planets, extraterrestrials and whatever else the kids imagine for their glass universe.

The fun kicks off on Monday, June 11 and runs throughout the week, with days and times varying depending on the workshop selected. Workshops are designed for students in grades K-8. Space is limited and advance registration is required. For more information, visit www.brazeestreetstudios.com or call 513.321.0206.
