Event Preview: Art on the Mall 2016

Toledo Local Features  |  By Kelly Thompson  |  07/27/2016

Art on the Mall started as a way to bring the University of Toledo community together with the rest of the city. Now, the event is in its 24th year, and organizers expect more than 12,000 attendees. Join local artists and neighbors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Sunday, July 26.

The event is described as one of the most anticipated annual art events in the area, and includes food vendors, music performances, and information about local businesses. The art will be juried by representatives from the Dayton Art Institute. The highest award, UT’s Best of Show, will be given to one chosen artist who has an affiliation to the university.

Food vendors include Java Sensations, Jeanie’s Comfort Cuisine, and Karen Anne’s Kettle Corn. There will be a beer and wine garden for attendees 21 and over.

Ansley Abrams-Frederick has been involved with the event since 2003, and has been coordinating since 2008. “Art on the Mall offers our art community the ability to showcase work in an absolutely beautiful setting to a very appreciative and supportive audience,” she said. “We’ve kept the artist fees very low, which makes it accessible to so many area artists.”
