Nathan Roberts and The Ragbirds bring upbeat folk to Fleetwood's

It takes a certain kind of artist to have the tenacity that Nathan Roberts has shown. For more than ten years, Roberts has been a mainstay on the local music scene. From playing solo gigs to giving his all in bands, Roberts has shown a knack not just for going strong, but for crafting smooth and sincere songs that blend singer-songwriter pop sensibilities with well-informed classic rock tradition. After a couple year hiatus, Robert’s voice and singular style are a welcome return to the Toledo scene.

Also on the bill this night is The Ragbirds, one of Ann Arbor’s most heralded and favorite bands. A folk rock fivesome with a penchant for world music grooves, The Ragbirds bring a dose of delightful harmony to tunes that are otherwise utterly upbeat and as danceable as the night is long. There’s a saying in the music industry about paying your dues, and at this point, the Ragbirds are well invested. From scoring number one hits in Japan to being featured on festival stages as eclectic as Electric Forest, CMJ Music Marathon, Ann Arbor Folk Festival, and Hookahville, among many others, to being critically acclaimed by the likes of USA Today and Reveal Arts, to having performed in more than 45 states along side some of the biggest names in indie, folk, and rock — The Ragbirds have quite simply earned their coop.
