TFAS Celebrates 100th Birthday with a Party on June 9

The Toledo Federation of Arts Societies (TFAS) brings together Toledo area arts organizations and artists of all genres. The organization is celebrating its centennial this year with an exciting series of events, starting with a Birthday Open House on Friday, June 9, from 6-9pm at the Porter Gallery in The Toledo School for the Arts, 333 14th Street in Toledo. A presentation honoring the past 100 years and an announcement outlining their plans for the future will be held at 7:15pm.

Besides the usual wine and snacks followed with cake and candles, TFAS will highlight its 70-year-old collection of artworks by local artists with an exhibition including originals by Dominick Labino, Adam Grant, JoAnn Cousino, Walter Chapman, Robert Mazur and K.A. Letts..

A historic summary of the last 100 years of art in Toledo will feature TFAS member organizations and artists, including the Toledo Museum of Art, The Arts Commission, U of Toledo, BGSU, Lourdes U and Owens Community College, River Bend Gallery, 20 North Gallery, American Frame Inc, as well as founding members Athena Arts Society and the Tile Club of Toledo.

TFAS will be honoring their past, but they are also looking toward the future and staying relevant to Toledo’s continually evolving art scene. An announcement of future plans will include some of the results of the executive board’s strategic planning.
