The Arts Commission Announces the 2018 Art Loop Season

The Arts Commission is pleased to announce the 2018 Art Loop Season. The Art Loop is Toledo’s signature monthly arts experience and is a program of The Arts Commission, presented in partnership with the artists, galleries, and creative spaces of Downtown Toledo. The 2017 Art Loop season the most successful to date. 2017 bus ridership alone was up an astounding 103%! The Arts Commission would like to thank our title sponsor ProMedica, our partners Tarta, Madhouse Creative, and the Toledo Lucas County Public Library, media sponsors, The Blade, the Ohio Arts Council, and all of the venues, artists, performers, and volunteers for working so hard each month to make the Loop a fun and vibrant display of our creative community.

All events and exhibitions are free to attend and all are welcome. Art Loop Bus Passes are $1.25 and include unlimited rides to all stops all evening.


The Art Loop is Toledo’s signature monthly arts experience. Explore the downtown creative community through self-guided tours of the art, artists, and spaces that inspire a vibrant Toledo. The Loop is a program of The Arts Commission, presented in partnership with the artists and participating venues who make it possible. Art Loop takes place each third Thursday of the month April-December, 5:30-9PM.

The 2017 Art Loop Hub takes place at the Toledo-Lucas County Main Public Library (325 N. Michigan St). Parking is available in the Library garage (enter off Adams St) until 9:00 pm. Stop by and visit the library for dynamic programming, chat with Art Loop staff and volunteers at the Art Loop Info Table to plan your trip, and climb aboard a Loop bus to explore Toledo's arts scene downtown. All buses and all routes stop at the Library, making it a lowcost, convenient one-stop shop for a great night out!

April 19 | 419 Day - Art & Ingenuity
The Art Loop season kicks off with a celebration of creativity and innovation from our institutional and student communities. Enjoy a blend of art and technology on display as young leaders share their vision of the future.

May 17 | Craft & Culinary (Glass City Film Fest Kick Off)
Downtown Toledo is increasingly becoming known for its selection of craft brews and breweries as well as its range of creative dining options. This night is all about celebrating Toledo’s palate.

June 21 | The Art of Automobiles (Summer Solstice)
Classic cars, art cars, Jeeps, and all sorts of creative machines are a part of our culture here in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. From design studios at the Big 3 to garages in near every neighborhood, there’s an oft overlooked art to our car culture. The June Loop features a downtown Toledo car show and special exhibitions celebrating the Art of Automobiles.

July 19 | Summer Spectacular
Celebrate the start of summer in downtown Toledo as the Art Loop partners with the Toledo Mud Hens and Toledo Warehouse District Association to present an evening of family fun, local art, baseball, history, and live music and entertainment.

August 16 | Dog Days of Summer + Cats
Behind many artists is a furry friend that supports and inspires creativity. This month, the Art Loop celebrates our pets with special exhibitions of petthemed art, pet portraits and characters, and special activities. Pets welcome!

September 20 | Dancin’ in the Streets
One of the Art Loops’ most popular annual events returns as Toledo’s dance community takes to the streets! Enjoy a wide array of contemporary, ethnic, traditional, and interactive dance performances throughout downtown.

October 18 | Haunted Harvest
Art Loop celebrates the onset of autumn with a spooky celebration of fall favorites. Enjoy family friendly Trick or Treating, artist pumpkin carving, creative costumes, live music, and lots of scary fun. Costumes encouraged!

November 15 | Holiday Loop
Kick off the holiday season by shopping with local artists! Get in the festive spirit as you explore downtown Toledo and shop for unique handmade fine arts and crafts and one-of-a-kind gifts for friends and your home and office. This month features local vendors, holiday-themed exhibitions, live music, and lots of family friendly festive fun!

December 20 | Light Up! Toledo
Celebrate the Holiday Season with the final Art Loop of the 2018 season. This month features last minute gifts and shopping at local businesses and with local artist vendors, as well as holiday-themed exhibitions and light art and projection installations.
