On behalf of the City of Toledo’s One Percent for Art Program, The Arts Commission has been working with The City of Toledo, The Ohio Department of Transportation, and a number of other parties on infrastructure enhancement and redesign for the proposed Anthony Wayne Trail, Erie and Lafayette Gateway Project.

In 2013, The Arts Commission published a request for qualifications, which generated over 130 submissions from all over the world. Through an extensive design review and interview process, the design team of Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan of Seattle, Washington were selected from this pool.

The sculpture and surrounding landscape celebrates Toledo’s transformative spirit of invention and innovation that connects its past to the present and its present to the future. Inspiration is drawn from Toledo’s nexus as a hub for innovations in transportation, manufacturing, art and design.

The Arts Commission invites the public to join us for a dedication of the sculpture and landscape designed by Laura Haddad and Tom Drugan and to celebrate the partnership between The Arts Commission, The Ohio Department of Transportation, The City of Toledo Engineering Services and The Warehouse District Association.
