Just as Easter carries a message of starting anew for all who celebrate it, the Baskets of Basics donation drive brings items of hope for fresh starts for homeless people in the Toledo area. Started in 2017, in the weeks leading up to Easter, Baskets of Basics collects personal care items and basic hygiene products for two homeless shelters that serve our community.

“The shelters expressed a need for these basic personal care items instead of the traditional Easter candy and toys.” said Allison Schroeder, Levis Commons Marketing Director.  “We are happy to be able to provide a location for the community to donate to Baskets of Basics with these essential, and often taken for granted, items.”

Personal care items such as toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, and feminine hygiene products are being collected beginning March 22nd- April 12th  at the following Levis Commons businesses: Blue Pacific Grill, Rave Cinema, Salvatore Capelli Spa and Second Sole.

In addition to the daily drop off locations, two Levis events will be collecting donations.  On Thursday April 11th, as part of the weekly Thursday night group run, Second Sole will be giving raffle tickets to all who donate a personal care item.  A Levis prize pack will be raffled off after the run.

On Saturday April 13th, Rave Cinemas at Levis Commons will be hosting a FREE movie to support Baskets of Basics.  At 10:00 am, guests can enjoy the hot new release movie “Wonder Park.”  The cost of admission to the movie is the donation of one personal care item per person.
