This morning, the Toledo Symphony Orchestra (TSO) announced that Ben Folds will be one of the Spotlight Events for its 2019-2020 season. Ben Folds will appear with the TSO on Saturday, February 22, 2020, 8 PM at the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle Theater.

Widely regarded as one of the major music influences of our generation, rock sensation Ben Folds will perform an evening of genre-bending music, including hit songs like Luckiest, Capable of Anything, and Landed. Folds was named the first ever Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center, is a multi-platinum selling artist, and was a judge for five seasons on NBC’s critically acclaimed a capella show The Sing Off. He has recorded numerous solo and collaboration records, including music for film and TV and a classical piano concerto that topped the Billboard charts.

“In our efforts to break down the barriers of what people perceive orchestral music to be, we’re intentionally programming artists who speak to a generation of people who don’t regularly engage with us,” says Felecia Kanney, Director of Marketing for the Toledo Symphony. “He will bring a high energy rock performance to the grandeur of the Peristyle using the intimacy of just a piano with orchestra. This is a good thing for Toledo, and it will be something audience members will remember for a long time.”

Ben Folds joins violinist Itzhak Perlman as one of two Spotlight Events scheduled for the TSO’s 2019- 2020 season. Subscribers to any of the TSO’s 2019-2020 concert series can purchase tickets to Spotlight Events, including Ben Folds, now through the Toledo Symphony Box Office at 1838 Parkwood Avenue, by calling 419.246.8000, or by visiting toledosymphony.com/listenup.
