2019 Black Swamp Arts Festival Music Lineup Announced

The Black Swamp Arts Festival is excited to announce its 2019 Main Stage Performing Arts Main Stage lineup. This year’s lineup showcases incredible national, international, regional, and local musical talent at the annual free festival in Bowling Green, Ohio on September 6, 7, and 8. The full lineup is listed below.
Main Stage music starts at 5 pm on Friday September 6. The Albion Michigan-based group The War and Treaty (www.thewarandtreaty.com) headlines Friday night at 10 pm. Nominated for 2019 Americana Awards for Duo/Group of the Year and Emerging Act of the Year, the War and Treaty are on a meteoric rise as a band, rooted in their powerful vocals and live show. Co-headlining Friday night is blues soulstress Samantha Fish (www.samanthafish.com) at 8 pm, touring in support of her new album “Kill of Be Kind” set for release in August.
The Main Stage starts again at 12 pm on Saturday September 7 and features returning headliner Shinyribs (shinyribs.org) at 10 pm. A project of long-time Gourds front man Kevin Russell, Shinyribs captivated a rain-soaked audience at the 2018 Black Swamp Arts Festival with a soul-shaking mix of Texas blues, R&B, blues, and rock and roll. The Band of Heathens (www.bandofheathens.com) co-headlines Saturday at 8 pm, touring in support of their critically-acclaimed tribute to the Ray Charles album “A Message From the People”. San Antonio honky-tonk heroes Two Tons of Steel (www.twotons.com) perform at 6:15 pm.
Saturday also includes the Madagascar-based group Toko Telo (http://aniorecords.com/portfolio/toko-telo) at 3 pm, featuring legendary guitarist D’Gary, and Westbound Situation (www.westboundsituation.com), recent winners of University of Michigan School of Music’s Briggs Chamber Music Competition, at 12 pm.
Sunday’s Main Stage lineup starts off at 11 am and features the return of Toledo’s own sacred steel family band Nikki D & the Browns at 3:30 pm. One of Northwest Ohio’s best kept musical secrets, Nikki D & the Browns carry on the traditional of sacred steel gospel music and the legacy of the Brown family gospel music. Also featured on Sunday is the St. Louis-based bluegrass quintet Old Salt Union (www.oldsaltunion.com) at 2 pm, and winner of the 2019 Blues Music Award’s best Soul Blues Album Johnny Rawls (www.johnnyrawlsblues.com) at 12:30 pm.
