JUNE FEATURED EVENTS

THE ART OF SPORT EXHIBITION
5/3 FIELD | JUNE 20-JULY 15

This unique collaborative exhibition was curated specifically for the first ever Art Loop: The Art of Sport. Highlighting great moments in local and regional sports history, The Art of Sport Exhibition aims to tell the story of Toledo's inherent and intrinsic connections between two great pastimes that have come to define our city and its citizens. Through play, competition, collaboration, and creative expression, Toledo's arts communities and sports legacies have endured social, political, and economic challenges. Both are rooted in people and how they interact with our environment. Featuring fine examples of sports photography, pivotal moments in sports history, and quirky moments in competition, this exhibition aims to tell our story in a new way, through the lens of those present to capture the moment. With this exhibition, in honor of the 100-year anniversary of "Toledo's Day in the Sun," the infamous Dempsey-Willard boxing match, we pay special homage to Toledo's legacy of competitive fisticuffs, past and present. Games are creative by nature, from concept to competition the process by which we interact with one another is an art itself. Here we celebrate Toledo's legacy of inventiveness in that regard. Exhibition is inside 5/3 Field (off St. Clair in lobby next to Holy Toledo Tavern).
