The Arts Commission, in partnership with The City of Toledo, is pleased to announce a call for artists working in glass to apply for consideration to design one of multiple Keys to the City of Toledo. Up to eight artists will be selected to create six limited production “Keys to The City”. Of those keys, five will be awarded to individuals by the city, and one will be permanently installed in the Mayor’s office.

Accepted artists will be provided a two-hour time slot on Thursday, September 19th at Gathered Glassblowing Studio’s hot shop. Glass artists not working out of a furnace are still encouraged to be present on the 19th as part of the celebratory kick off of Momentum.

Momentum is a three-day festival of music and art along the riverfront in downtown Toledo, Ohio. The event celebrates the transformative vibrancy of the arts for the Northwest Ohio region by supporting local artists and musicians, and inviting international creatives to perform and exhibit in Toledo. All Momentum events are open to the public.

Interested parties should submit a short bio (no more than one page), 3-5 images of work which appropriately demonstrate a technical ability in glass, along with a preliminary drawing of their design to https://theartscommission.wufoo.com/forms/zxyvjil0ngwu1x/ ). Submissions will be accepted from June 20th- August 1st, 2019. Accepted submissions will be notified on August 15th, 2019.
